Jelsma de Jong Advocaten founders

Rolf was admitted to the Dutch BAR Association in 1989, after obtaining his master degree in Dutch and European law at the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands. He started his career at a law firm in Utrecht. Then he moved to a mid-size law firm in Amsterdam, where he became partner in the corporate law practice group.

Over the years Rolf has become a trusted advisor of numerous large, mid-sized and smaller enterprises, including start-ups. He has guided his clients through various transactions and legal matters. Not only focusing on the legalities, he has developed a sharp view on broader needs of modern entrepreneurship as well.

Bas has been admitted to the Dutch BAR association in 2001. He studied at the University of Montpellier and obtained his master degree in Dutch Civil law at the University of Amsterdam. Bas started his career at Allen & Overy, a world’s leading law firm, where he worked for over 5 years. Then he joined the Amsterdam-based law firm where Rolf Jelsma was running his practice. There, Bas managed the practice group commercial litigation, recovery, and disciplinary law for 12 years.

During his career Bas became a sharp and (when necessary) a fierce litigator and experienced transaction lawyer.

Both Bas de Jong and Rolf Jelsma have registered general practice as a principal and civil law as a secondary legal practice area. Based on this registration, they are required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
